Lunar Baby Thermometer

lunar-baby-thermometer1

I’m sure it can be hard taking a babies temperature, especially when the baby is in a crazy temper tantrum. The Lunar baby thermometer is an easy way to take one’s temperature and works by simply resting it on a forehead. Once the temperature has a final reading, the compact thermometer will beep, and a LED light will blink.

New Mold for Coffee Cups

coffeetopcaddie

Ok, so I would like everyone to know that not all designs on this site are high tech related, as a matter of fact, some of the most simple designs are the best. Take this design as an example. This clever idea consists of a new mold for the plastic top that fits on top of your coffee cup. Not only would this design be easy to create, it would make be much more convienant to have everything needed on the lid.

GM And Segway unviel electric two-seater called Puma

segway-puma

Segway has developed variations of thier two-wheeled personal vehicle, but recently, with the help of GM, Segway has unvieled an electric-powered two seater called the Puma. It can reach a top speed of 35 mph, and can travel 35 miles before needing a recharge.

Larry Burns, vice president of research and development for GM, said it would cost about 35 cents to charge the Puma’s lithium ion battery system — essentially a larger version of the power system for the Segway Personal Transporter. The Puma balances on two large wheels while driving. For safety, it employs two sets of wheels in the front and back — similar to drag-racing vehicles — to prevent it from tipping over. When it parks, it rests on the front set of wheels.

This is definitely something that would be used in urban areas. What better then to have an eco-friendly vehicle that can fit tightly in parking spaces.

SixthSense turns any surface into an interface

system

I’m speechless; this new prototype by MIT is nothing short or astonishing. This wearable device let’s you physically interact on any surface that’s in front of you. The “Sixth Sense” system from Patti Maes’ Fluid Interfaces Group at the MIT Media Lab opens the doors to touch interfaces. With the Sixth Sense, you can watch a video over a newspaper, navigate through images on a wall, or view a map on a countertop. MIT’s new prototype can also recognize certain hand gestures. For example, if you were to make a picture gesture with your fingers, a picture would be taken.

video_paper

The SixthSense prototype implements several applications that demonstrate the usefulness, viability and flexibility of the system. The map application lets the user navigate a map displayed on a nearby surface using hand gestures, similar to gestures supported by Multi-Touch based systems, letting the user zoom in, zoom out or pan using intuitive hand movements. The drawing application lets the user draw on any surface by tracking the fingertip movements of the user’s index finger. SixthSense also recognizes user’s freehand gestures (postures). For example, the SixthSense system implements a gestural camera that takes Pictures of the scene the user is looking at by detecting the ‘framing’ gesture. The user can stop by any surface or wall and flick through the Pictures he/she has taken. SixthSense also lets the user draw icons or symbols in the air using the movement of the index finger and recognizes those symbols as interaction instructions. For example, drawing a magnifying glass symbol takes the user to the map application or drawing an ‘@’ symbol lets the user check his mail. The SixthSense system also augments physical objects the user is interacting with by projecting more information about these objects projected on them. For example, a newspaper can show live video news or dynamic information can be provided on a regular piece of paper. The gesture of drawing a circle on the user’s wrist projects an analog watch.

The current prototype system costs approximate $350 to build.

Apple’s new iPod Shuffle Talks!

This is unbelievable, just when I thought the shuffle couldn’t drastically change, it has. The new iPod Shuffle is now half the size of the previous shuffle. If you notice it’s now 4 GB which holds twice as much many songs as the previous one (1,000 songs). Apple once again shows off their innovative talent by loving all the buttons to the headphones, which is perfect for working out.

With the new controls on the right earbud cord, you’ll never have to even peek at your iPod while working out. If you press the upper and lower buttons, the volume will change. The middle button however is many things. Its easiest function is simply the play/pause. However, if you were to hold the middle button the iPod Shuffle will verbally tell you what song is playing. Now if you hold this button down ever longer, you’ll hear the playlist you’re currently listening to.

The new iPod Shuffle is a great buy. For only $79, you will not have access to every playlist you’ve created with just the press of a button, no longer do you have to press the shuffle button 1,000 times to find the song you’re looking for, now just create a specific playlist and access it in the middle of a workout.

Microsoft’s vision in 2019 is Amazing

future

No, this time we’re not talking about Windows 7 or upcoming Microsoft phones, instead we’re looking far into the future with a vision that gave me goosebumps. It’s pretty amazing to see what some of the worlds smartest people believe the future is going to look like. Alert to any entrepreneur: develop a pocket size cleaner formula because the future is going to be full or smudges and fingerprints…

Rinspeed iChange Concept Car Unveiled

7579

On February 17, 2009 Swiss’s auto company Rinspeed released the world’s first car whose body adapts to the number of passengers in the car. The car is called iChange because with a push of a button  the rear end of the car slides up. The iChange can go from a sporty one-seater to a luxury three-seater.

The teardrop shaped concept car is extremely aerodynamic so it’s good on gas, and uses less electricity from it’s electric motor.

In seconds a streamlined one-seater sports car transforms into a comfortable car with ample room for three. The trick: At the push of a button the rear end of the teardrop-shaped car magically pops up. “We have designed and built an extremely flexible vehicle. In it we have brought the themes of versatility and continually changing energy demands to their logical conclusions.” The result is a streamlined, lightweightzero-emission car with dramatically reduced energy consumption.

The basic idea behind the ‘iChange:’: The energy demand of a vehicle depends mostly on its weight, the type of engine it uses, and its aerodynamic properties. The engineering-services company Esoro that traditionally builds Rinspeed concept cars has built an extremely lightweight car weighing in at only 1’050 kilograms. To power the car, the Swiss specialists chose an electric motor. The idea of the pop-up rear end was conceived to account for the sizeable effect aerodynamics play in fuel consumption.

Hopefully this is the start of a new automotive era. With cars like the iChange, it’s clear that the only cars that are going to compete are the one’s who are coming up with innovative ideas. I can’t wait to see this on the streets.

The biggest man-made hole in the world - amazing photos

The world's biggest man-made hole is located in Russia.

The gaint hole is actually a diamond mine in Eastern Siberia near the town Mirna.  It is 525 meters deep and 1.25 km in the diameter.

The following truck loader is one of the biggest in the world - lenth 13.36 meters, width 7.78 meters and height 6.65 meters.

This gaint machine appears just a small point in the next image…

The suction above the hole resulted in several helicopter crashes, so all flight above the hole is prohibited now.
